Factory seat question Guys,
I have a 96 z and the driver seat needs to be redone it needs the foam and cover. My questions are: where is the best deal on the seat foams and I noticed that for the 98 seats they sell covers with houndstooth inserts which I want. Do they make these for the 96 seat or is there any difference on the 96 & 98 seats?

The foam is specific between the 93-96 style and the 97-02. Channels are molded in the foam that corresponds to the seat cover stitch design. No replacement foams are available yet for the 4th gens to my knowledge. However, the lower seat foam is identical for the diver and passenger seat. I dont see any reason the upper couldnt be swapped between sides either. You would just have to clearance a couple small holes for the seatbelt bracket. If you can find a cheap passenger seat which doesnt get as much wear as the driver side, just use that. For the covers, leathal Interiors could do the houndstooth on the 93-96 style cover. There is plenty of examples of her work on this site, its top notch. I don't know as for certain as I havent tried to swap between the 2, but knowing what both style seat foams look like without covers on them I think you would have odd/slight fitment issues in some areas putting a 98-02 cover on 93-96 seat.
