Default Help me get my detail setup.

Ok, heres the deal. You guys all know about detailing and what not. I know how to wheel cars, because i used to work at a detail shop. But i dont know what brand and tools to buy to do it myself
What i need
Buffer
Waxes
Polishes
Cleaners

What brands and type would you buy to be able to wheel your cars at home to get that good finished look. Id also like to know what you use to wet sand your cars.

As far as the "buffer" goes, I use a Porter Cable dual action sander/polisher with Lake Country pads. Very safe, but very effective at removing swirls, blemishes, etc. What condition is your paint in? If you have swirls, look into Meguiars #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish followed by #82 Swirl Free Polish OR Menzerna Intensive polish followed by Final Polish. I use the Meguiars and it worked awesome for me, many have used the IP/FP and their results speak for themselves... As far as a "wax" or final step to provide gloss and protection, you have a multitude of options. It depends the look you are going for. Here are some to research

Meguiars #26 High Tech Yellow Wax or #16 Professional Paste Wax
Klasse All in One followed by Sealant Glaze
Wolfgang
Blackfire
Zaino
P21s or S100 (S100 is available at a Harley dealership)

Check out www.autopia.org for more info then you'll ever need on the topic of detailing as well as a ton of pics of final products after all of the above products and more.

I will second the Porter Cable 7424 or 7336 (the same thing) with Lake Country pads.

There are many, many products out there that are great to use for different applications. I suggest searching and reading on www.autopia.org to learn about some.

I suggest Menzerna or Poorboy's Polishes - Klasse AIO and Vanilla Moose cleaners/glazes - Wolfgang, Poorboy's, Zaino, etc. sealant - and S100, Meguiar's #16, Pinnacle Souveran carnauba waxes.

Don't forget one of the most important pieces...towels. I suggest Pak Shak and Excel Detail for these. www.pakshak.com and www.exceldetail.com

EDIT: Here is a great link on using the PC buffer... http://www.bettercarcare.com/articles.php?articleId=47

Just moderate pressure; too much pressure destroys pads and is hard on the motor. If there are tough blemishes, turn it up to 6 and use the appropriate pad and polish combo.
