Is there anyway to get the headlights clear again?

I just bought a '98 z and the front headlights are "fogged up" Is there anyway to get them clear again?

I used some rubbing compound on a friends 1998 ss, and it seemed to help, lots of time to rub it on, but removed the yellowed areas pretty good

When I was doing Car stereo work we used a bench grinder with a plexy buffing wheel. Go to eastwood and get some plexy polishing compound. Or you good get a cut-off and a buffing wheel. I'm looking into trophy shops to see if they could also do this.

I've been told you can wet-sand it off if its small scratches on the outside of the lens. I'm gonna try it some time in the next few months.

I just tried the wet sanding this week-end and used alittle rubbing compound. It got rid of the yellowing but didn't clear them up well. I'm going to just buy the plexi-polish because I know it will work. It will also seal it in because of the extra heat it creats. It smooths it out.

You can definitely get it done. Do a search over hazy/foggy/unclear/whatever headlights. You'll find out about it. I just got finished wet sanding mine. Got rid of the yellow(or at least most of it) but still not clear like I was hoping. I'm unsure if it was because I didn't sand properly or I need a better polish for the lense. Either way, yeah try wetsanding. If it's really bad use something coarser such as 400 grit and then work your way down into the smoother stuff. Another plus to doing this...while you have your headlights off you can do the headlight mod like I did. Anyway, in reference to all this check out a post by screenname LS1 Sounds. He did this stepped process with his headlight and it came out very nice. An example of what you can do if done properly. Hope that info helps!

My girlfriend's old car had this problem. I just used "Scratch Out" from a company called "Kit" it's in a small yellow bottle and costs $3 at Autozone. Works just as good as the expensive stuff.
