I painted mine. I used Argent gray (color used for old Pontiac grilles) for the edges and the inside, then bright silver for the very top surface only. Came out better than expected. I also painted the inside hood grill inserts bright silver to match; almost looks factory.

patience gentlemen......it is a process, not something you can rush......it'll be clear once it's all done and I post.......
I can tell you though the first lot will be 5 SS grilles, and 1 Ram Air set....again, you'll know the "why" when I post.....this is just a "first" group.....

well I did take a few pre-lim shots today, but the camera was set to high so the files are way to big.....in focus, but to big.....also they are still a little premature too, I was getting ahead of myself and rushing, and thats not good for the ultimate end result.....but what I did see was pretty nice, BLING, BLING!......

You should check with John WS6 on LS1.com. He has been making custom billet vent inserts. I have a set and they are totally awesome. I am very happy I chose to buy from him. Check out http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=531347

Hell, i dont remember what its called.... I got it from Wal-mart and it was like $3 or $4 i think. I advise you if you go that route to make sure that they are cleaned really good before painting. I'd also suggest a clear coat, but make sure both the silver (or whatever color you use) and the clear coat are super dry before reinstalling, because it will leave thumbprints in the paint if you dont. As far as removing the grills, just open up your door, and go between the door and the fender on the outside. Stick your hand in there and there are tabs on the back of the grills, they just pop out.
