2 1/16" gauge in A/C vent ?

2 1/16" gauge in A/C vent ? Has anyone mounted a 2 1/16" gauge in the TransAm/Firebird/Formula A/C vent ?
I know the 2 5/8" gauges fit snug in the A/C vent hole but (obviously) the 2 1/16" is a little smaller and will require some sort of mount.
I'm putting in a AutoMeter Cobalt trans temp gauge in the driver A/C vent and am looking for suggestions on how to best mount it.
I was considering fabbing something up with black plastic stock. Still debating whether I want the A/C to blow through around the gauge. Probably not necessary...

i got 2 gauges in the vents, trans temp and water temp they are 2 1/16
i took the vent out, cut a peace of plastic for gauge to fit then glued it to the peace that held the vent in place, looks cool, and it was easy to wire

Thanks, that's kinda what I was thinking.
Anyone else do anything different ?
I was also considering making a mount out of aluminum stock and polishing it up, and making some 1/4" holes for the air to pass through around the gauge.
