If they are deeper scratches you will need to get the area buffed. Beware buffing, if you have never done it before start with a light compound and work your way up. Don't let the buffer sit in one spot for too long and do not press to hard. Burning through your paint is only fixed by repainting.
If you polish your car you will have to wax over it. Rule of thumb polishing gives you that shine and removes light scratches or swirls and wax will protect your finish not enhance it.

2. Do you rinse your car frequently while washing?
If you aren't getting all the dirt off of your car and proceed to wipe with a microfiber towel, it will just drag the dirt across your paint. That WILL cause micro-marring and scratching. It is a PITA. Trust me, I know. I've had the same problem, and have been examining my washing technique ever since, and I'm getting much fewer scratches and micro-marring these days. And before you go asking "What the hell do you know about detailing?" Here goes...
I've used Menzerna many times, and it works great. If you keep getting scratches, though, it is being caused by something you are doing while washing your car. Microfiber does NOT release dirt very well, and won't even think about doing so until submerged in water. For this reason, I "pat dry" my car as well as use a leaf blower, and whatever water spots are left get taken care of with a quick detailer (Quick Shine). Let me know if you have ?s

The reason I think it's the MF towels is because of this particular set. I have a few others that I've used for a while and they're great, but this set has given me problems before, mostly with streaking. This time, the swirls are VERY noticeable (to me, anyway...my wife thinks I'm insane), so I think I may re-polish, then use a different set while buffing. I have a couple waffle weave towels that I love, but they were dirty when I washed the car last weekend.
Only problem is, it is supposed to rain tomorrow. I might wash it tonight and detail in the garage, then leave it there until Monday, when I have to get back to work.

Flaminchiten67 wax does protect but probaly no longer than about 30 days i.e meguiars 26 High Tech Yellow Wax, Sealants however are more durable. I cant think of a wax that does not have any protection properties unless your thinking of a glaze.
luvmeZ28 you can remove them w/ a PC and some menzerna polishes found here www.premiumautocare.com or you can have someone who knows what theyre doing do it for ya. But if the swirls are not that bad you can invest in that PC and knock them out your self. Good luck
