removed side molding. pics.
Anybody with a black car that stays outside 99% of the time do this? Was the paint underneath the strips darker, or different in any way?
I really want to do this, but I don't want to have "clean, dark, shiny" stripes on my doors.
Thanks in advance!

yeah, the side molding is there to pretect from dings cause by other cars. to bad it is not SUV and truck proof!
Taco, my friend's 2000 black trans am just got the side molding removed 2 days ago and he had no lighter or darker strips anywhere. looks like they were never there in the first place. his car sits outside constantly. next on the to do list... fikse fm5s!

I removed the side molding and my paint was different on one of the fenders, but every where else was fine. In my case, though, there wasn't much of a paint difference in that spot. So, it is not noticeable unless you know it is there. I guess it has been repainted with the moldings on.
So, aslong as the car has not been repainted it should be the same. Depending on if the paint has been taken care of properly.

I think I'm gonna do this, then have my car completely waxed.
Also, anybody know a good way to get rid of swirly-marks? I have some pretty bad ones, so I need to get rid of them if possible!
Thanks in advance!
