Anyone painted their block? Hi All,
I am putting the final touches on a 69 Camaro that I am building with a LS1/T56 combo. Like with all aluminum, it has a tendency to get scale over a peroid of time. Do you use a acid base cleaner like a wheel cleaner to keep the cast aluminum looking good or do you think that I should paint the block silver?

i'll be painting mine black here shortly before the motor goes back in the car. just scrubbing it down good with glass cleaner(with Ammonia in it) and green scotch brite pads. dry good and then spraying it with 1200 degree flat black block paint. i already did my oil pan like this, came out great.

Painted block I would use a self etching primer on bare aluminum if I where you. Paint doesn't adhere well to bare steel or aluminum and I'm not saying that it won't stick, but it want last as long and will come off easily when scratched.
