Default Need some advice....caliper color....

Hey guys,

I am wondering if you guys can share some opinions with me...what color should I paint the calipers on a Red Orange Metallic T/A? Would black not show up well? Would red look funny on a dark red car? What about silver or charcol? This is what the car looks like (albeit it looks a bit darker normally)....

Thanks for the help....

Joe

I'd stay away from red. Gunmetal would look great, IMO.

What kind of wheels are those? Anymore pics? Maybe some that are little bigger.

What about polishing them?? Although they do need to polished up a little in this pic.

I'd do either your car color or gunmetal with stainless caliper decals

OK, I edited the pic...its bigger now....polished would be nice but would probably take quite a bit longer than just painting.....the wheels are 18 x 10 AR Longboards...

I would goto the dealer and get a spray can of that color (Which is Sunset Orange Metallic). Paint the caliper S.O.M. and the bracket black.

If you don't want to bring any attention to the calipers, then all black looks good.

Finally if you are gonna have silver accents on the car, then I'd paint the caliper silver and the bracket black.

Actually the car is Red Orange Metallic (called Cayenne Red metallic on the Camaros)....

I do not want to paint them body color...I think it might look a bit funny....I am thinking black or silver might look good....maybe black with a silver reflective T/A decal....

Do you need to use a high temp clear if you use something other than caliper paint?
If you choose to use caliper paint, there aren't many colors to choose from.

I'd go with a metallic charcoal color...

Not unless you had the car re-painted (Or the hue is the same). No Camaro's or Firebird's came in colors with those names from the factory. They came out with Sunset orange metallic starting in 2001.

No Juice - You should use a high temp clear (will look better), but you don't have to.

when i first saw the car, the first thought was flat black for the calipers, you dont want to take any attention off those badass rims.

Sorry but you could not be more wrong....the car is a '98...in '97-'98 Pontiac had a color called Red Orange Metallic for the firebirds and Chevy had one called Cayenne Red Metallic for the Camaros.....that's what this color is called....The car is an original factory color and has not been repainted, you obviously don't know all that much about F-body colors but I can get you a breakdown of all of the F-body colors with production numbers if you're so interested....

I would be intrested in the F-body color (Only wanna see the # for this color) with production numbers since I have never seen or heard of a 98 Camaro or Firbird in that color. In 97, like you said, that color did exsist (In my last post I was reffering to 98+ versions also).

Man I would go gloss black with brushed aluminum Trans Am decals on them. It's just a nice clean look

Here are the '98 Camaro Production numbers...you'll see they built over 1700 Cayenne Camaros...this is the same color as red orange metallic on Firebirds...

Here is a picture of the car of one of the most well known members of this site...its a Cayenne '98 Z...maybe you have heard of it...along with the Colonel it set numerous bolt on and H/C records, etc...

Here is another Cayenne car - http://www.houston-f-body.org/member...ail.php?ID=427

I could not find color breakdown numbers for any year firebird...but here are some ROM firebird pics....

Additionally there is a local guy here in socal that has one as well...he is also a member of this site - https://ls1tech.com/forums/member.php?u=4365

I have several other pics on my HD if you need/want more info.....

The "raw" factory color looks best in my opinion.
