Bo, good stuff man. Hand polishing isn't the PITA, its the surface prep thats time-consuming and tedious IMHO. I just picked up a water pump to polish....thats gonna be a bitch

l thought I was crazy 'bout half way through it but a water pump....my God man....have lost your mind lol. Better have some electrical back up . There was about 6 hours or so just prep work by hand sanding. 80 grit, 220, 400, 800, and then 1000. Wet sanded after that and then polished by a 2 stage step I use on my TB blades.

thats looks pretty damn good, considering the shitty pitted metal they use for the valve cover

I know, sanding all of that crappy casting slag off to get to some decent aluminum took 4ever. Didnt help anything either by doing it all by hand.

haha....i have a dremel to help with the prep work on the WP. dremel does 80% of the prep work, then hand sanding the rest. i'm going to be trying a two stage polishing deal....maybe some tripoli will help things out lol.

just comin up with ideas

I'm in the process of polishing my covers also. Sure is fun getting all the cast marks off. I also polished my fuel rail. Much easier.

Once you get all of the casting crud cut off its just prep work from there on out. Wet sand only to slick it out not to cut any material off, dry sand up to that point.

It looks great. Yeah, it's a pain to get the casting material off, especially if it's really pitted. I'm in the process of polishing my LT1 intake manifold, and it's pretty tough, even with my Dremel.

I did mine too, and it was indeed a HUGE PITA! Yours look very good though! Nice work!
