Default People using shampoo for car wash

Ive seen on other forums that people use Pantene Pro V 2 in 1 conditioner to wash their car and they say it works really good and makes it shine. Have any of you heard of this or tried this?

I have never tried it, and have never heard of anyone else trying it, either. I guess you should go with whatever you think works.

I heard mane n' tail worked wonders... Ahhhh I'm just kidding!!!!!! I don't think I'd do it for the simple fact that Meguiars Gold Class works great anyway. To each their own as they say, Let us know how it works out for you.

There are some people out there who use this technique...search www.autopia.org for it.

I haven't tried it, because I am satisfied with my car wash soap.

I don't think i'd look for a soap that makes the car shine, isn't that what polish is for?

I remember seeing my dad using shampoo to wash his truck with. Seemed to work fine. It acts as a lubricant so it won't scratch or anything. I doubt that it would strip wax either since obviously its pretty gentle if you use it in your hair. I use Meguiars on my TA though.

Don't do it! Shampoos-what ever brand all have a chemical that is used to get rid of grease. ANY shampoo will clean a car good enough, but will strip any wax that is there. Take a beautifully waxed car and shampoo it, dry it, then drive around for a day. You will SEE the negative effects when you see the car in the sunlight.

Car wash soap is much cheaper than hair shampoo. There's no specific advantage to using hair shampoo, so I wouldn't even worry about it.

Washing 11 year old paint after winter sludge has been baked on, of course the shampoo made it look good. Good to you is different from someone else's good. My car is a garage queen that is NEVER driven in rain, and the paint has been wet sanded and polished to a show shine. I won't put shampoo on mine and say it looks good-never.
