hmm never heard of tin foil playing any role. however there is 3 kandy colors and 4 to 5 opaque colors inclduing a pearl. there is a certain recipe that i use that has to go in a certain order. 80-90 percent of it is freehand and the other is use of a free hand shield that i hold up to get some hard lines. basically freehand the layout and find the right curves with the shield to make it all come together. The hardest part is making the overall layout look real and not repetitive like old school flames.

That looks awesome... I was gonna go to killer paint up here in washington and see how much they charge for a flame job after I got my car repainted and all the hood/bumper replaced. I was gonna go with the white/blue flames though.

That's really nice. You should just do some freehand on it to blend it a bit, it has some hard edges on it that I think could be softened up a bit, especially in the yellows. Looks like you used a lot of masks or shape templates (it has a bunch of hard edges that are easy to see). You could also use a bit more intensity at the front and also break it up a bit... add a bit more yellow at the front, and maybe try the purple thing too... if you really want to bam! it up try some white highlights with the purple. But definitely some softening and hand-airbrushing.
Don't get me wrong, it looks really good, I'm a pro artist and I've done some airbrushing too so I just wanna add some helpful tips.

This thread is over 5 years old. He is no longer around "TECH". There may be a couple others on here that do the true fire work. Stryker did some work for me years ago.

I'm at work today, so no access to the pictures. I have posted them in a few threads. He did a set of FRC's and an airlid for me. I'll try to find them. You can also search for FRC's or underhood pic's. That might bring something up.
