Default sail panel recall/bulletin

i recently read somewhere on here about how a certain span of year f-body's had used some adhesive on the sail panel that made the paint bubble or wavey. I went to the dealership yesterday and told them about it. The guy looked up the bulletin and saw it, but said that it would only be covered under GM's factory 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. I was pretty dang sure someone on here said it was a 6 years regardless of mileage. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm having the same issue myself on my 2001 TA. The dealership where I bought the car and Pontiac Customer Service both are trying to get out of fixing my car by stating that the 6 yr/100000 k warranty only applies to RUST and not to the bad adhesive problem, because the sail panel is fiberglass, hence it can't rust. I've taken my problem directly to District Service Manager of Texas and I'm awaiting his decision. I'll let everyone here know more as I find it out myself.

here is the link to the original topic, it does provide great info:

This topic has been talked about for years. There are a couple active post on here now. Depends on the dealership, some will fix it some won't. I have them on mine, but I am over the 6 year mark. Lets us know what you find out from the District Service Manager.

I spoke with the District Service Manager by phone today and it appears that he will authorize my request for repairs. He wants me to bring my car in for him to look at it direct this coming up Monday (6-6). I'm not excited or holding my breath yet, but this is the most progress that I've made so far. The other topic that I referenced earlier does have a page (#4) that speaks of the lemon law paint issue with GM. I mentioned that to him and he seemed to quickly want to settle. Try that as well as printing the Technical Service Bulletin on page 1 and bring both with you when you go to a dealership. I'll post again on Monday evening......
