Increasing Headlight output I have several friends who have HIDs and they love them. I know tbyrne sells HID kits. I am curious who has HIDs for camaros, what K you have, where you got them, how hard are they to install, how much you paid, and whether you are happy with them and if you think that they are worth the price? Sorry for the novel. Thanks for your input.
I have them on my SS, I absolutly love them... Mine are 8000k which is the blue.. I got them really cheap by accident lol.. Most kits are just plug and play but make sure you get a kit with a relay otherwise it may not work on a camaro..

The easiest way to add HID to a Camaro is to use re-based bulbs (they will fit in-place of the stock Halogen lights). Its not just a matter of replacing the bulb though. You still need ballasts and etc. The right way to do it would be to go the custom route with projector housings. One of the links I provided above discusses that. The beam pattern of HID lights is different than Halogen, therefore the reflector designed for a halogen light source will not produce the best beam pattern and may produce more glare for on-coming cars.
Many people talk about 6000K, 8000K, and 10000K lights. The lights that come stock on some vehicles is between 4000K and 5000K (typically 4200K or 4300K). The Kelvin temperature (K) is the color temperature. Its the color that the light produces. The housing design can also affect the color that is seen. One of the links above goes into more detail. Basically, the higher the color temp, the bluer the light is, but the amount of light emitted drops. Therefore, bluer light means less light.

Its worse since we have sealed beam units.
It would be a more custom route.
Option A: Get conversion units (or dis-assemble sealed-beam units) to allow installation of regular halogen bulbs (like the Camaro) or re-based HIDs.

Option B: Get fixed units (insteat of pop-ups, like the Breathless kit or one of the others that people are working on but not yet produced) and replace the bulbs with re-based HIDs or modify the housing to accept projector units (if they dont already)
