You dont need degreaser and you DEFINATELY dont need to sand them. I swear, just try the $4 little red can. Everyone!

Also before you mount that valence... we mounted mine 3 times with the crap double side tape. Finally on the last attempt, I used a 3M clear trim and emblem adhesive that comes in a tube. Its a little runny, so apply it to the valence first. Let it set up for about 3-5 minutes. Then put it into place. After you get it where you want it, have someone put blue painters tape(2" wide kind) all along the seam to hold it in place over night(it wont leave a residue or harm the paint when you remove it). I let mine cure for a full 24 hours before removing but i think it would have been fine the next morning. I just didnt want to redo it for the 5th time.
Yeah, Mothers does work nice!

I thought the emblem tape is very sticky stuff? I have put a few badges on other cars and I know that you only get one shot and once the tape is stuck, it's stuck! What I plan on doing is using dawn to wash the lower part of the bumper and get everything cleaned off well.

As far as fitting the valence, what I think I am going to do is fit it up with the tape applied to the valence leaving the covering on so that it doesnt stick to the car. I might warm the tape up with a hair dryer or let it sit in the sun for a while before I stick it on....maybe the tape will be nice and sticky that way.

Brian2006...check out my other post here in the Appearance section. It has all the info

Well I never had a problem with the tape actually coming off.. The problem I had was I would wash the car and after some driving, the water soaked tape would get warm from the exhaust... then it would litteraly seperate, like split in half. I would use a paint cleaner or rubbing alchohol to clean the areas before hand. It will not harm the paint.

A couple options:

1. Browse F-body forums looking for those people selling used ones
2. Go through some sponsors and see who sells them
3. Sometimes Ebay has some parts for them
4. SLPonline.com

Just to let you know, it's not cheap. The tips are often in the $250 neighborhood and the (unpainted) valence is often $150. Plus you'll need 90 degree bends, probably some hangers, and some other stuff to have it custom-fit to your current catback.

ITs the entire tip... which looks like 2. Not a typo.. it is that much. Well worth it IMO. It's also cast and polished. Not some junk you will have rust out within a year.

I also painted mine with cast aluminum color paint so that it looks factory, but the pores in the aluminum will be filled in so they are easier to clean when the time comes

Tomorrow is the day...gonna start grinding the dual/dual tips off (it hurts, believe me )....and then the mock up begins. I'll have pics along the way for you guys as well as a litle write-up.

'Til tomorrow.....
