Did mine this week... Took me 3 days... I did...

Clean/degrease/wash (u know...)
Sand with 200, then 400, then 2000
Primed it
Primed 2nd coat
Sanded
Primed one last time
Wet Sanded
Paint
Paint coat 2
Paint coat 3
Clear coat 1
Clear coat 2
Wet Sanded with 2000

Ya it took a LONG time but lets just say.... looks BEAUTIFUL and like a perfessional would have done. I am so impressed, I dont think Ill ever take another thing to a paint place unless its the whole car!

Goodluck, and damn it looks good!

exactly correct aBadMother. all u need to do is take ur time, and do it right. its not hard at all, even with color matched spray paint. get some pics man lets see it. ive been debatin this but my car is white, so white interior prolly wont look good so im gonna go with black

I wish I could get some pics... I have a friend using it (2 hours away from me), and he is making my 3mega pixels pics like like 9 mega pixel pics... So when I get that back ill post up some pics. I think black would be a good choice because it isnt all flashy as some colors!

Goodluck everyone!

I did pretty much everything aBadMother did, plus or minus a few things. The one thing i did do , that wasn't listed was buff and polish the pieces after the finall wetsand. Oh...and i used a urethane primer. It's expensive but it kicks ***. 3 coats paint, and about 6 clear. The extra clear was because i intended to polish heavily, and i wanted it rock hard.

on the other hand, might pewter on black be too much of a difference?? or do you think it'll offset the black well.

I think what makes the biggest difference is doing a good job sanding the grain off the parts and making them as smooth as possible without making dips and holes. I painted mine myself but I think taking them to a bodyshop is a great idea and probably wouldnt cost that much. Mine have been great for 2 years and I havent had any wear, not even on the door handle pieces. I used an epoxy base paint i think. Tuff stuff. Im pretty happy for the $30 bucks I put into it. Pics are in my sig.

Good luck!

if you want it to last longer you should go to a paint shop and pick up some adhesion premoter, this will make the paint stick better to the plastic and last longer. i would use automotive paint also, spay paint sucks >_<

i dunno if a body shop will sell the paint, i have a paint shop by me that sells paint, and paint shop supplies, its called c-y paint. i live in illinois btw. just look in the phone book for paint shops or paint distributers. they can get your color code out of your car and mix the exact color you want, of if you want to make your own color they can do it. if there good that is.

I thought about that, but alot of cars now come with matched exterior two-tone interiors. So if I do it right, take my time, and make it look like I'm imagening it shopuldn't look very ricy at all.

Hotrod builders have been doing it for years. Not to mention for awhile in the early years that's how cars came.. fully painted dashes, consoles, door panels. Pretty much any combo you can think of. Interiors were seeing paint long before fast and the furious was made, or hondas for that matter.

I am not trying to bash the idea, i just made the statement that it more of a sport compact look. I myself don't like it, but that by no means says it looks bad.
