Default Is hid worth it without projectors?

I really have a hard time seeing at night and im ready to pull the trigger on a philips 4300k kit for 375 shipped. I did some searches on this site and some others, some people love it, and then theres a couple people saying its crap without projectors. the question is, is it worth it, is the light output that much better?

The light output is incredibly better. However, without projectors the light is scattered and is not going to give you the best visibility possible (in terms of distance and direction). Even so, the light will still be much brighter/clearer than stock and will definitely help you out on the road. It's just others that might get pissed at you with those HID's scattering your light into their eyes.

Some really good info in this thread. IMO, HIDs without the proper setup is a nuisance.

I would look on ebay for a set, I have seen them for about 100-120 dollars less shipped. You will love them.

I doubt you'll find the Philips new set for that price. They're most likely knock-off's. The last thing you want to do is buy a cheap *** pair of HID's that blow out a month after you get them.

I don't believe so, but someone on the board here fabbed up some projectors using a projector housing inside our headlights. Do a search for it.

i'm also working on fitting a projector into a set of halo headlights. It's coming slow, because it is requiring a lot of fabrication.

Here is a post I made a while back with links to threads with plenty of info on installing HID in Firebirds:

There is also a link there on how to make your own sealed-beam conversion units.

ok i saw my friends 4300 kit tonight, and it was surprisingly nice, the light didnt seem to have those bright spots, but he also adjusted his lights, maybe people dont adjust them, but they seemed pretty good, i wouldve liked to see an OEM equipped car next to his to compare but the light output was like OEM HID

no i mean, the projector will be behind the halo ring, you will not see the projector at all except for the glass front of it.
