The guy's name is Brian and he's awesome to work with. He won't leave you hanging if you have any problems.

Thats the kit that I have as well. No problems, easy to hook up, and no tickets. The older cougars had the sequential taillights from the factory. A cop may pull you, but the ticket shouldn't stand. I've passed many cops, using the signals to move back in front of them, and no problems yet.

Not true. There are 3 on each side, but the one on the outside is a small bulb. You can use a bigger bulb to replace it with (the ones from the Stop light in the spoiler will work perfectly) and it will look alot better in the daylight.

Whatever you want to call it....but it is the 3rd light in the tail light, and is designed to work with the signalwave board as the third light.
I understand what you're saying. By replacing it with the "brake" bulb and socket, it will be much brighter. But you can much more easily just put in the bigger bulb (the ones from the stop light have the exact same blade, but the bulb is twice as big) it fits and works just fine.

Sorry for the poor pic...
The small bulb is the 194, which is the outer most bulb in the TA brake light assembly.
The bigger bulb is from the stop light in the spoiler. You can use this bigger bulb in place of the smaller 194 bulb.

Sorry about my delay in getting back to you infinite. Looks like they got you covered on your question though.
As far as the bulb though, I'm not sure what bulb I used. The directions that were sent with the kit recommended a bulb from NAPA and I just bought what they suggested. Once you wire up the kit, all three lights will work for the turn signals. Basically, the input for each bulb will be coming from the board. The input to the board will be just one of the original "hot" wires for the turn signals.
