Default upholstering center console door?

I know I saw a thread about this a while ago but I can't seem to find it now, has anyone covered their center console door with anything like vinyl or something ? Is it hard to make it look good and does it end up shutting ok ? I know I've seen this here before and yes I did search

My father is working on mine. We did two covers and the 1st one looked great and was very nice but I messed it up. The second one my father wanted to try a little something different so he changed his pattern and it worked out better but we were having trouble with the area around the button. We couldn't get it to tuck up and fold just right. It just didn't look right to either of us. So now we are working on the third pattern. We haven't had much time or else we would have been finished a long time ago. He has other projects so I get put on the back burner for $$
