Car Puter
I was 90% done with a computer system in my old car. All I had to do was hook up the touch screen to my video card and install it all. It is very easy to install something like this. I know of a lot of people that have done it. I wouldn't call it rare anymore. BTW I would also make it so that the screen is not visible at all time. On my setup I had planned a cover that would slide down on it. But I sold the car before I installed everything. I might install it in my firebird if I can get off my lazy butt.

For some pics as of yet, check http://carpc.meissenation.com/ $300 Via Epia Mini-ATX Motherboard, 1ghz.
$275 Lilliput 7" Touchscreen LCD
$75 256MB memory (I think, not sure, between $50 and 75, would rather over estimate)
$0 Freebie, had a 20gb HDD laying around
$20 USB Wireless Internet Adapter
$50 USB GPS Mouse
$0 Freebie, pirated GPS software
$175 Opus Solutions 150w DC-DC Power Supply
$895 TOTAL HARDWARE COSTS
This does not include labor for software installation and such, or the cost of labor to make the bezel and mountings for the install. In the end, though, it's a sweet experience and I'm REALLY excited to have my carPC installed by the end of the week. My project was technically a two year project, but this is the second version of the carPC that I've gone through already (I got all the way to the install phase of the carPC v1 and then realized the motherboard was WAY TOO BIG to fit in any of the locations I wanted, had to start all over)
Truthfully, my project is far from finished. I got the itch to finish it, and I just went with getting the basics installed while I worry about upgrades and stuff later down the road. It has GPS navigation, my entire mp3 collection, wireless internet, DVD-rom and some game emulators for car shows and such. I plan to have the entire project finished, installed, and everything by Friday (I'm literally only waiting on the power supply) so I'll post more details when I get it all done.
