exhaust tips...

exhaust tips... I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but since I have absolutely no clue about how the exhaust works, and I want different exhaust tips on my car, what has to be done to change the tips? Are all tips interchangeable, or what. I like the looks of the quad exhaust tips, and was thinking about putting some on my GTP, but not sure exactly how to go about it....any help appreciated!
instead of taking it to a shop , why dont you just replace the whole system yourself ? or is the system n there already changed to 3 ", im sorry i just think its a little lame to change the tips to a bigger size without having the whole system that size , is this what you're plannig on doing?

no i wasnt planning on changing the tips to a bigger size, just wanted a different look....and i may end up just putting a completely different exhaust on it, but i'm not sure yet. But yes, the tips would be the same size as the whole system
paper, you need to take into consideration how some people might like how it sounds stock. Or maybe it has a flowmaster on it already and he doesnt know it. just changing the tips is a very easy and cheap exterior mod that can make a world of difference on a car.
im not saying DONT change the tailpipes , but making a 2 1/2 " single system dump into 4 ,3" tailpipes would be a little ricerish, (not to say this is what his plans are by any means , i was just checking)
