Thumbs up Odometer Color

OK I got the write up done, if you have any questions PM me or post up. I tried to do it as complete as possible but it's been a few weeks so I may have left something out?

So there are 6 points on the odometer board, correct? And you are saying to use the top 2 and the bottom 2, correct? Any resistors needed or is it a direct replacement?

My cheap internet schematic, lol! Is this correct? This is of course assuming the board is oriented the same as in the picture.
1 - use with LED connected to 2 (CATHODE -)
2 - use with LED connected to 1 (ANODE +)
3 - solder a wire to 4
4 - solder a wire to 3
5 - use with LED connected to 6 (CATHODE -)
6 - use with LED connected to 5 (ANODE +)

Good writeup, BTW!!!

Yes, if its oriented the same as the picture 6 and 2 would be the + lead on the LED's and 5 and 1 would be the - leads of the LED's.. Make sense??

Nope, they're being run in series so they pretty much act as resistors themselves..

Good deal! I have my blue 3mm LEDs coming in the mail tomorrow. I already have the gauge cluster dismantled and the odometer display removed. As of now, I have only soldered the bridge from 3 to 4. It's kind of tricky getting those factory lights off, but I got them nonetheless. I'll try to finish it tomorrow if I get the time. I have a huge emblem order to fulfill, and a speech to prepare for. ;(

I do have a question however. I didnt know you can run two 4vmax LED's in series without a resistor on a 12v current without burning them out? i guess you obviously can since you did it! I also wonder what white LED's would look like?

Just be careful soldering them, don't hold the soldering iron on them too long or you'll burn them out. And if they don't burn out they wont last long

because different size and type LEDs can handle different current.. LED's area actually resistors that just produce light instead of doing nothing..

Just got mine done. I did a couple things differently though. I ground down the tips of the LEDS, and faced them directly toward the transparent plastic section. Because the tops weren't domed, I gained some clearance and the light was spread more evenly.

Hardest part: Re-connecting the electrical connector for the odometer board - PITA!
