For those with flames....
I've noticed with the different "post pictures of your car" threads that a good many of you have flames. And I have to ask...
If you have any kind of flames on your car, how many of you have had people come look at your car and start touching the flames? Do they think they are actually hot?? I've only had one person touch them because they had flames and wanted to see if they had smoothed out the paint on mine. The rest are just people looking. And then they start touching. I get so tired of wiping off finger prints!
Can someone tell me why this is? Without having to tell people "get the xxxx off my car", how do you stop it?

I dont have flames, but first thing I thought of was that maybe some people want to see if it is vinyl??? I dunno, just a thought I guess, if that isn't the case then I have no clue...I guess they are just idiots or something.

For the most part people are pretty good about keeping their hands off the paint. Mostly they just come up to get a closer look and ask all kinds of stupid questions like "is that a vinyl," "did you spray paint that hood." The funniest thing is when I am filling up at a gas station I have had several people ask to take pictures of my hood. Guess its better than rubbing the hood up and down with their hands.

well i can vouch for stoopid people cause when i see a car with stripes or flames i do the same thing because i wanna know if they did a good job.....if it is a good job u will not be able to feel the stripes or flames or naked women or whatever....if it is a shitty job u will feel the lines from where they were masked

I'm taking it to an event tomorrow. We'll see how many finger prints I come home with. We went to a little meet in a parking lot one time. I walked away from my car for about 10 minutes. I came back to finger prints all over the front of my car. Not even where it was masked off. Just mostly in the flames. I don't get it. I don't feel the need to touch people's cars.
Oh well. Thanks for the opinions guys. Hopefully I won't have to a bunch of ricers for fingerprinting the car.

My painter hooked us up pretty good. He completely repainted the car back black, removed the side moldings, laid down the ghost flames, and put 4 coats of clear on top, sanded and buffed it till it looked like glass. All this for 2,000 dollars. Not too bad if ya ask me.

I must admit that I implusively reach to feel for an edge but I normally restrain myself because I think about whether or not I would want some other knuckle head touching my car. That usually does the trick.
