Can you use a M6 console with the shifter Boot and make it work with your Auto car. Heres my Idea, I have a 96 T/A and I want a Shift boot on my shifter like my buddies 01 Vette. But I also want the New style 97+ middle console. So I was thinking Why not put a M6 conole with a Shifter boot in my car even though it a auto. This way it would give it a Cleaner look (NO P, R, N, D, 3, 2, 1) and would give it the boot look. I would think it would be a complete bolt-on thinking the shifter for both would be in the same place, CORRECT. Thanks

No compare it to your A4 console...The opening for the shifter does not go far enough back to allow for the lower shifts....

Are you meaning the 1st and 2nd gear shifting on the A4 manually. I am trying to see some pics and see if It could be possible, but I can't really tell.
I don't ever manual shift my car, so do you think it would work.

No because my car was a A4, and now is a M6, the shifter is mounted farther back is what I am getting at, where as the M6, the shifter it closer to the firewall than the A4 shifter...
