Default Irreversible mod!

Something that I havent seen on here yet is etched windows. I have this done to most of my cars so here are a couple of pics. Let me know if anyone likes it. The 97 camaro has the 30th anniversary emblem from the seats and the 02 has a Z28 (ZO6 style).

That's pretty unique, I like it. Definitely something that the average crook couldn't hide without smashing the window out.

Looks killer... Very unique! I've seen people sand blast glass before, but never a car window! Good job man.

The roll of etching paper is about $8 and etching acid is about $16 for a big bottle but can be reused anytime (found at any art store and there are smaller bottles). Just draw out your design on the paper, wash the area you will etch with soap and water, cut the design with a razor and stick it where you want and paste some acid on. Let the acid sit on there for about an hour and put as much acid back in the bottle, wash off with soap and water and peel off the paper to see how the project turns out. Be careful cuz it is Irreversible and the acid will eat the paint if you get a drop on the car.

Ill post more pics if everyone wants to see them.

That's a pretty cool idea. Have you had any cops hassle you about it? As in, "causing visibility issues" or whatnot? Doesn't seem like it would be a problem but you never can tell these days.

There is a guy that comes to the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, OH, each year that etches windows. I've seen a lot of 'bird emblems on hatch glass and t-tops while attending the show.

I like the quality of work, looks great. BUT, what happens when you mod your Z? The HP rating will go up? That would bother me. Id put some acid on that HP rating to cover it up... Never heard of using acid, I always just used a hobby sized sandplaster and vinal stickie tapes.

I posted how to do it and the cost in the # 6 reply. The cops have never stoped me for the etchings but in Cali I dont know the cops there are

Pics- I have the 30th anniversary emblem in the corner of the rear view on the 97. Z28 on the side windows by the weather stripping, and the frist one I ever did on my el camino.

That is bad ***, I really like the little on on the window by the weather stripping. If it was over a bit more, and the windows were tinted, it would really stand out.

How do you keep the paste from running? Or is it thick enough that it wont?

You should do a picture walk through if you ever do it again, I think it would be a hit.
