what does this thing do?
 

ok well i am wanting to put a shifter boot on my automatic and i found this also while reading through some threads, http://secure-order-server.net/caull...d=496772_22822

does this make it so you dont have to push down to shift just apply the brake and pull the shifter instead of pushing a button, or does it just let you put manual shifter knobs on?? and who has done this and is it worth it, bc my button sticks sometimes and really want a cool looking knob anyways.

the shift button is spring loaded. there is a metal clip to hold the shift knob to the stick. this looks like it mounts to the stick holding down the shiftlock so you dont have to push the button. it also lets you use a manual shift knob on an auto.(which is why you would need to bypass the shiftlock)
