Default Rear seat delete??

Hey guys
i have a question about the rear seats in my 02 SS. I was thinking about taking them out, to save weight, and so i cant cart people around and they stop asking for rides and so on an so forth, but i was wondering if i take the seats out, like the actaul bucket part is there carpet there or is it straight up metal?

also does any one make a rear seat delete kit? that would solve me problems i guess

thanks

i believe that there is a rear seat delete kit through the same makers of AUSTIN RAM AIR. I am personally working on a fiberglass mold in order to make fiberglass duplicates for rear seat delete kits, which may be available by summer time in a limited quantity.

Yes there is a kit. I don't have any personal experience with it, but it looks to
be quality work. There are a few here that have this but I don't know who they
are off the top of my head, sorry.

I'm pretty sure they're a sponser... I got this link from this site so if they aren't,
sorry mods, feel free to delete it.

Any of you that have done either of the two seat delete kits shown here know how much each kit weighs compared to the seats?

I guess I could probably make one, but I'm not so sure if I could make one that was any lighter than the seats. hmmm

Mine are probably just as heavy, maybe heavier than the bottoms and the seat back combined. They're not really light.

Doh! I just found a weight comparison on the second link...15lb covers and seats and seatbelt system totals about 45lbs

"These covers save weight, too! Stock rear seats and seatbelt systems weigh in at 45 pounds, but our covers only weigh just over 15 pounds. Look great, save weight."

you can check out my cardomain for pics, i took my rear seats out and just put the rear floor mats over where there is metal exposed, it was kind of nice for a while not being able to drive people around, but the road noise is much worse without them in , I am thinking about putting them back

These cars were supposed to come with rear seats? Mine have been out for over a year.

If you want rear seats, get a four door civic.

Yeah if they were not put in it would be insured as a roadster or like a vette is insured..pretty much your saving a little bit on insurance. thats the only reason why all f bodies have rear seats
