Anyone ever changed the carpet in their Camaro? The guy who owned my SS before me should have been shot for the way he treated the carpet. Im just wondering what im getting myself into when i go to change this stuff? What all has to be removed, etc. Thanks guys

You have to take out the seats, consold and all the panels (except door panels). Then you can just pull the carpet out. Installing the new carpet is a pain though because of all the humps in the floor pans. Just make sure you get a good said and not one with a crappy mold job and it will make the install so much easier. Then just put the interior all back together.

Does the front pieces (dash, etc) need to come out as well?

No dash doesn't need to come out. Also if you put the carpet in the sun it will soften and be easier to work with.

Whats the best place for some ebony/black carpet? I want to convert my int to ebony, and this will be my first thing, IDK if I should wait till I can find some stockers, or if I could go with a aftermarket.

I went with stockinteriors.com, great prices and the mold was perfect. They give you plenty excess on the sides, and you have to cut your own holes for the center console and such, but installing it wasn't that hard at all...

Still had some tucking and such to do in this pic, and the dash is all out because I'm entirely redoing it, but here's a pic.. just did this last week.

Year one has some nice carpet from what I hear. I know of a couple of other companies but I haven't used their carpet so I can't speak 1st hand. Car Motorsports has carpet... Their floor mats are good quality so I assume their carpet would be too. Plus the color is dead on with the factory

I bought my first set from stockinteriors.com and it was a real pain. Granted it was my first time installing carpet but having to cut the holes and the mold job not being that great resulted in a not to pretty installation. I then got a set from auto-interior.com and it was a little more expensive but had the holes cut for the console and such plus it was molded better.

I went with Year One's carpet as well and was pretty happy with it, just take your time and it will work out fine. The center counsel was probably the hardest part..
