Default Brake Dust

I still have the 10+ year old stock wheels, and needless to say, theyve racked up their fair share of brake dust. Theres always a little bit left over after I wash them, but when I washed it yesterday NONE of it would come off. How do I get this nasty stuff off? I used 3 kinds of a wheel cleaners and a power washer. Im out of ideas.

PS: If this is supposed to be in wheels, can a mod move it? I didnt really see any wheel appearance threads in there...

your thread is fine here.

use an aluminum polish, you can get it from any auto store. the brake dust has corroded the aluminum, so it wont simply wash off, you need to polish the top layer of aluminum off and since it looks like your wheels are silver, get silver wheel paint and maybe repaint them, or take the time to polish them

if its the inside of the wheel, not the face, you can use 800 grit, then 1000 grit sandpaper. I had to do the same to mine on the inside. For the face or front of the wheel, just polish it using a dremel.

If its just caked on really bad, try some engine degreaser. GUNK makes some good stuff, a spray gel. Just follow the directions and try not to get any on your paint. If you do wash it off.

But dang, if it really has corroded through the paint, you might want to think about upgrading wheels

That's going to be a major PITA to fix.
