Question for those who know about detailing
Question for those who know about detailing I plan on detailing/cleaning/waxing my car this weekend if it is nice. My car is a daily driver so im going for more longevity than a perfect shine and look. I was wondering what products you guys would recomend?
Without opening up a can of worms about this brand and that brand, get good quaility products. I have used Mequires (can buy in the stores), Zaino and Tropi-Care. Those are the ones I have knowledge of. There are others out there, but I have no experience with them. Where are you located??
Meguiars is what I recommend. It'll give a good shine, it'll last awhile and it wont hit your wallet nearly as hard as Zaino, Klasse or some of the other high-end detailing products.
I detailed my friend's pewter z28. We washed, dried it, used Meguiars Claybar, waxed it using Meguiars NXT Generation™ Tech Wax. Worked really well, I wish I had some pictures of it. Took a good 4 hours to do with the 2 of us but well worth it. We did this about 6 months ago and it still has a great shine to it.
Whichever wax you use, if you want it to last, do it right....
1. Wash with Dawn (dish soap)
2. Clay bar
3. Wash with Car Wash
4. Wax
Whatever you choose to use, this process will yeild great results.
I personally use Zaino Car Wash, Zaino Clay Bar, and Zaino Polishes, because 1 coat of Zaino is enough to last all year!
But multiple coats of anything will enhance the shine and longevity, so I do it alot.

4. Wax

There are lots of great choices out there (Zaino, Klasse, Tropi-Care, etc.).
Zaino is by far the longest lasting product I've used (4-6 monts from a single application), and it doesn't have to be expensive.
Some of the newer Mother's products (Reflections) seem to be good and last a while.
NXT doesn't last past a couple of car washes in most instances.

Dawn is only meant to be used one time (if that). It is a step for those who can't or don't know how to properly prep their paint.
One use won't hurt, but repeated use may lead to drying out plastics, rubber, etc.
