swirls and microfibers...
As far as the good microfiber towels, get them from one of our sponsors, they all sell the good stuff. I used Tropicare towels on my mom's Benz, and they worked great!
That kinda made me laugh a little.
As for the microfiber question, it's really more of a feel thing, and it also depends on the purpose of the towel. My drying towels have thicker pile than my detailing towels, but the detailing towels are more plush. I typically try to pick a towel based either on someone's recommendation, or by feeling it. If it feels coarse, it probably is, and should be avoided.

Well, there is a difference between removing swirls and covering them up. It is pretty hard to use 3M swirl remover, which is an abbrassive to cut down the clear coat to an even level thus eliminating the swirls. It really takes a machine to do that efficiently, I didn't say it was impossible by hand, it just takes a looooooot of time.
Now, using some of the other products to fill in the swirls is much easier, but it usually doesn't last very long. Those products are usually high in oil content and make everything look nice and shiny, but don't last longer than a couple of car washes.
