Caliper Color
I have a pewter z and was having a hard time deciding between black and red for my calipers. I tried to look up pics and every single one I found had black. Eventually I found one with red and really liked it, thought it stood out, so I decided to go for it. I think a lot of people think black matches better but the interior of my car is burgendy-ish and the chevy bowtie on my zr1's is outlined in red, so it's ok. I don't have any decals, not yet at least. Here's a pic, sorry if you have to copy/paste the link...and that it's kind of hard to see the calipers.

I vote black, but it depends on what you are looking for. I would say if you had a big fancy brake upgrade and wanted to show it off, then maybe something bright and flashy is good.
But black does a good job of really cleaning up the appearance. It's one of the subtle things like the whistler mod where if you take a step back and look at the whole setup, something about the entire wheel/brake area just looks to be of a higher quality. That's what black gets you.
Paint the non-swept area of the brake rotors while you are in there. Rusty cast iron looks like poop.
This past weekend I blacked out the inside of my Chrome Zo6's, my rotors, and my calipers. On the rims it was for protection, appearance on the other two. Not so sure how well it will hold up, but I am VERY happy with how much better it looks.

I vote black just because I just finished painting mine gloss black(VHT caliper paint) and put chrome decals and they look awesome as alot of people said its subtle and looks clean and anyway red is WAY over used on brake calipers IMO.

I have a pewter firebird and went and painted the caliper part red then painted the bracket black. With the polished wheels the contrast looks awesome. Its dark now but ill try and take pics tomorrow for ya.
