Default Meguiars polish/wax

I'm looking to make the switch to meguiars. I've been using zanio for 2 years and im looking to try meguiars. I know I want to give scratch X a shot, I've got some swirls and scratches that I want to get rid of. I'm completly lost as to what polish and wax to use. There are so many choices from meguiars. I want the deepest darkest shine I can get. Anyone have any recomendations.

Thanks
Jon

I like their "Gold Class" product. Gives a deep shine and easy to use. Works best on my black vehicles.

if you are serious about learning, drive to Tampa on Saturday.

Mike Phillips from Meguiars is giving a free detailing class on April 29th in tampa .. definately worth the drive.

if using a PC, I would do the following

wash
clay
scratchX for the scratches
#82
#21 (or NXT, if you can't find the #21)
NXT Paste Wax

details about the free class in the link below.

I would love to go to the class but i'm actually moving that weekend. I will also will not be using a pc. Do they make #21 in anything other than a 64oz jug? 64oz seems like over kill. Also what car wash soap do you recomend?

Thanks
Jon

no. it is from their professional line, and that is the smallest size they have. It has to be applied by machine anyway.

Any good carwash soap will work. Meg's, mothers, anything that is specifically for cars, and is a brand someone has heard of will work.

also not sureon the #82, but I think it is machie only also .. if so, use colorX instead .. it works well by hand ..

the three step process also works well, but I have found scratchx, colorX and then NXT to do a better job on darker cars by hand.

I have tried the Mequiars Paint cleaner - useless on swirls and scratches. Maybe mine was too far gone for that stuff, but the 3M 39003 works much better. Am trying to get my money back seeing the Paint cleaner was useless, it was recommended by the Mequiars customer service.

Whatever you decide on, make sure you clay. It's a once a year process and it's so worth it. I couldn't believe how much it helped my paint. I had some crap on my bumper that was invisible and attracted dirt like crazy. Washing wouldn't do anything. I clayed it and some nasty yellow stuff came off. I was amazed.

So what is the process again?
Wash-Meguiar's shampoo
dry-absorber or?
Clay-any bar with polish
wash again, someone recommended that microfiber towels
dry again
swirl remover
wax?
