shifter boot removal
Take out the whole panel.. its easier.. lift up your center console lid.. take off the change dispenser.. there should be 2 small bolts.. 7mm if i recall... undo those, the slip off the top part of the console.. unhook the Cigarette lighter, and the ash tray light..

I twisted off the shifter ****, took off the boot, used a little manuvering (sp) to take the bolts on/off, and I was done. Easy as pie without removing the console.

How did you make your own?
Mine is still broken and I've wondered about fabbing some solution...
Not sure if it was himAnyways.. the squeeze method works fine, before I put locktite on my shifter handle(first weekend driving) I always undid the boot to tightend the screws. After doing it about 20 times.. I broke the retainer ring in one spot. Still works fine though
that plastic retainer.. is brittle.. ive broken 1.. not going to do another..

The original guy that designed them based it simply off the original clip, so I figured if he could do it, I could too.
