Default PorterCable 7336 or 7424?

I am going to get a buffer, and was planning on getting the PC7424. Then I saw a package for a 7336 w/ a bunch of pads and stuff for like $150. They said the 7336 is better because you don't need counterweights for 6" pads as you do for the 7424, but what is the downside of the buffer? It seems to be cheaper, so there's got to be a downside.

It's the exact same tool. The 7424 is sold as a polisher, the 7336 is sold as a sander. That's the only difference. I bought a 7336 at Lowe's.

Polisher, yes. You just unscrew the sanding backing plate and screw in the flexible velcro backing plate and start swapping pads to your heart's content.

I have the 7336 also and it works great! I've used it as both a sander and polisher. That also helped justify the purchase. Get it...

Alright, looks like I'll be going with the 7336 then. As for you guys looking to buy them, I was on the Lowe's site and there was a PC that looked like a 7336/7424, and it was $140. On Tropi-care's site you can get the 7336 w/ the backing plate, 3 pads, and a bonnet for $150.

If you go to www.autodetailingsolutions.com you can get a bundle package, the polisher, a backing plate, and a polishing pad for $149.99. They have a lot of other goodies there too.

Thing is the one they sell, the Meguiars G100, its the exact same as the PC7424... it costs a little bit more BUT you get a LIFETIME warranty with the G100 through ADS and Meguiars... no questions asked warranty.

Remember... the G100 is a rebadged PC7424. Same thing.

I think I only paid like $99 or something for my 7336 at lowe's? Anyways, I've been getting my pads, etc. on-line at http://www.autopia-carcare.com/. I've been real happy with them.

Amazon has them for $120 with free shipping. Dont skimp on the pads! Get some decent pads...ususally the ones that come with them arent the greatest.
