Black Cars !
Just use the least abrasive polish you can get away with, and dont use a wool pad. If I can do it anyone can!

You must be thinking about a polisher to remove wax, not a polisher to buff out scratches and swirls. There are a million ways to ruin paint while using a buffer. I have been a buffer for awhile now and I'm very good at it. I have to admit that while I was getting the knowledge and skill that I now have, I did some damage to a few vehicles at work. I know exactly how to remove those swirls. Use 3M Light Duty or Polishing Compound and a Foam Pad, turn the buffer to a low rpm(1700 is good), and spread the compound and then pace it back and forth top to bottom. OR do the smart thing and just take it to a professional.
