A friend (M1A2DRVR I think is his screen name) just had his car painted a custom Black w/ Metallic Red in the clear...

He did the cowl area as well... maybe he'll post pics...

It was a little much for me, I'd leave it satin black.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a black TA and everything has a shine to it but that cowl piece. Well, the door plates also. I was thinking of just clearing them to give them a glossy finish. I really don't see a point in painting them. If I could just get a good, durable, glossy finish, I would be happy.

I was thinking about getting this, but haven't heard anything about it.

Might even be good over polished rims.

I did it on my car. How ever its not a 4th gen.. Just tape the windsheild then put news papers on the tape and tape that down. hold the can about 8 inches above the cowl. spray LIGHT coats. Dont forget to tape off the hood and other objects you dont want to get paint on. Its worth the extra time to tape everything off then to HOPE not to get over spray on anything, and it happining.

You could just take the cowl off and paint it, it's not a big deal to remove the wiper arms and a few plastic clips.

I thought about doing this today, typed in wiper cowl in search and low and behold...

I was pretty sure I hadn't seen it done before. Anyhow, mines all apart. I'm going to sand the texture out of it, prime it, spray it, clear it and wet sand/buff.

I bought a bunch of new clips that I will spray black as well. Then silver wire mesh will take place of the black mesh that was there.

I'll post pics in a week or so. One thing for sure is nobody has done it around these parts.

the tropicare non-silicone tire dressing works great on cowl plastic. It lasts a long time too.

Funny you mention that. I drove my car home with the wipers, cowl, etc. off the car last night. It sounded much louder when getting on it, and there was a massive amount of heat coming out in front of the windshield.

Someone needs to make a cowl induction WS6 hood for these cars.
