removing that black insert on the fascia.. ive searched but came up with nothing...how do you get that black insert out of the fascia on the camaro's. once its off is there anything else behind it that has to be done?
Most people pretty much just yank them off. However, for some people, it will hold on too hard and mess up the paint on their bumper. It's best to get each side loose, then gradually work your way through each push pin and get them undone.
... best done on a warm day, and as Scotty-Z said it's best to work it off from the outside in. The outside clips come out much easier than the inners. If you have no interest in saving the plastic grille (they are only like $25 from GM) then you can also peel it up and cut the tabs off as well, if you have a stubborn tab.
Be aware that the paint underneath the grille may not be perfect. It can be mismatched from fading or likely have some areas rubbed down where the black grille contacted. You'll also have the 8 holes there, which don't look so bad on black but stick out on other colors.
