I found the write up. It was buried on page 7 when I searched under "polishing."

I didnt have any luck with a wire wheel when I did mine. It just left scratchmarks on the smoothed surface that I worked so hard on. I ended up working it out with a vibrating sander. Started with the 220 - 400 grit paper and the sanding block then moved on to 800, 1000, and then 2000 grit paper using the vibrating sander. Then I used a buffing wheel on a corded power drill and mothers aluminum polish per directions on the above link. Came out good enough. I'd like to go back over it to make them as brilliant as Bad30th's calipers. Man those rims and the polished calipers really compliment each other, nicely done.

If you use the wire brush after 220 or higher grit it will leave scratch marks. I also had to go back and resand. In my experience, using the wire brush after the 100 grit really helped clean the calipers without leaving scratch marks. However, using it after any higher grit left scratch marks.
I need to redo mine because I did not grind enough of the casting mold "marks" from the caliper. So, try to get the surface as smooth as possible. Otherwise, it won't look very good.

I take it the brackets are steel? Should you just paint those, maybe a contrasting or neutral color to show off the polished calipers?

Yea just paint the brackets. I think they're coated in some kind of metal (nickel perhaps) for some reason and if you try to polish them you're basically taking away that thin coat.

did mine... still have to paint that bracket though. And then attempt to do the rears. Going to be rough though since there are smaller nooks and crannies making it harder to get smooth in there.
