Sequential Tail lights?
I have been thinking about doing this but not really sure what the big difference is between the basic kit and the full kit. If the basic achieves the sequencing, is shorter, and doesn't have the opportunity to screw up the tail light, why wouldn't you just do that? Has to be something b/c it comes with 2 harnesses and 2 more bulbs.

Your stock tailights really only have (2) flasher bulbs within - the most inboard. The outer light in each tailight is a different type of bulb/holder and does not flash. The basic kit only allows the (2) existing flasher bulbs to sequence.
The full kit also includes new holders that must be wired in place of the current outboard lights that don't flash. This will enable your tailights to now have (3) flashing bulbs instead of (2). There are modifications that must be done to the tailight housing to accept the new/different style bulb holders.
I have the full sequential kit with all (3) bulbs sequencing. Just having (2) sequence on each side is pretty much a waste of time IMO - doesn't look anywhere as good as (3) on each side.
I can tell you for sure that if you go the full kit route you will also need an Electronic HD Flasher to replace the stock Thermal Flasher to make the sequencing look proper...

The sequencing of the brake lights is the default operation unless you connect an extra wire on each side to the turn signal wires behind the dash. This is because the module doesn't know if it's getting power from brakes or turn signals unless it has a separate turn signal input wire. I highly recommend using the extra wire for safety - otherwise it's confusing to drivers behind you when you put on your turn signal (one side sequences) and then step on the brake (both sides sequence).
I've had the STS-1 kit in my car for several years now and I often get comments about what a great mod it is. I've even had people follow me into parking lots to ask where I got them (including a BMW once).
