only wash microfibre with microfibre, hang dry. Vinegar during the rinse cycle will help it stay softer as it loosens fine dirt. Don't use fabric softener, liquid detergent is preferable, but if your water isn't "hard" then powder detergent works just as well.

This is good advice. I hand-wash and rinse my MFs until particles stop showing up in the water. I'm afraid of what the agitator could do to them, so I gotta spend the time to satiate my paranoia. The vinegar is also a good pro tip to keep in mind.

Don't mean to hijack but I have a question along the same lines. My microfiber towels are starting to get a little worn, they arent as fluffy and they dont seem to have that static cling to them anymore. Will the vinegar in the wash cylce bring that back or are they just done for and I need new ones?

I would probably just replace them if they are really worn. Follow SladeX's instructions with the new ones and they will last.

Why would you want Static cling? I have taken measures to get rid of that bs. All it does is charge your car so dust sticks to it the second after you are done with it.

I dunno, I always figured it did a better job of pulling whatever dirt was still on the car into the towel. Maybe I don't want the static clingyness. *shrug*

Vinegar will restore some amount of softness. I would take 99zee's advice and just replace them, and take more care to your new ones so that they may last longer. Never throw away a "bad" MF - they work great for door jambs and other areas of paint that get too dirty, but don't warrant the minor risk of abrasion from a regular terry.

Also, while static cling does have the effect of picking up small particles, I do believe that it imparts its charge onto your paint. You get enough of that from the friction you generate when you wipe down! I wouldn't miss the cling if I were you.

I think there's a QD spray that has anti-static properties for that very purpose. I've also heard of grounding your car to say, an outdoor faucet.

It doesnt make much sense to me to "ground" a car which most of its painted surfaces are not made of metal.
