Default Optima Battery Covers

Where are you guys getting them from. I'm getting ready to buy a Optima and want to buy the cover as well. I'm thinking of getting the Red Top 75/35, do they make a cover for that model?

There is only one model Optima that has the optional cover. Technically it is the wrong battery for our cars, but with a small lip getting cut off the battery tray/coolant over flow tank, it fits like a charm.

From Optima, the attractive accessory snaps on to the top of an OPTIMA group size 34/78

Here is mine:

So the only thing you have to do to get the 34/78 battery to fit is cut the lip off the battery tray?

Yup. I have a picture at home, (I think) where Steve showed me where to cut.

If you wouldn't mind, could you send me that pic later once you get home? Thanks again!

Looking at Optima's site the 34/78 is 10" x 6 7/8" Where the 75/35 is 9 3/8" x 6 13/16"

I will check my photos when I get home. Hopefully I still have it, if I do I certainly will forward it to you.

The cover you have is the one I want, so it looks like I'll be getting the 34/78. Thanks again Andy!

I bought mine on ebay from this seller: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQ...Zmotobatteries

They had every color under the sun when I bought mine.

I'm using the Optima 34/78 battery too. The battery terminals tuck nicely underneath my traction control.

Thanks for the link, I've been looking for a cover. I just don't like these engine bay pics, my car looks so blah compared to so many on here.

For people like myself, it's been a long-term process. I've done a little to mine each year during the seven years I've owned the car, and I'm still not done You'll get yours looking just how you want it I'm sure.

Did you have to alter the battery tray as well to make the 34/78 fit?

Nope. Mine actually fit down in the tray, and I was able to clamp it down with the factory clamp.
