I'm sure NBM is rough, but nothing is worse than black. I was so **** about detailing until I bought a black daily driver. I started out pretty good, but after a while, I got burnt out on detailing the thing.

My paint has been faded a little because it has never been kept in a garage. It is mostly purple and bright blue during the day and at night then it takes on the color of everyone elses NBM cars in their pictures LOL. I guess it's a good thing that I like purple.

thats interesting, i keep my car in a garage, but, im the second owner, maybe the first owner didnt have a garage and it was kept outside in the sun. it was a southern car (GA), so, i'd imagen it got ALOT of sun. maybe thats why my car also often looks more purple then navy blue.... hmm..... damn, that sucks though (lol, i like navy blue more then purple).

thanks for solving a mystery for me though, lol.

As for ICE.... it shines... but it defantly does not protect well. I washed for the 2nd time today since using ICE and the car now feels like there is almost NOTHING on the paint.

My car is even garage kept to boot. So, I will be getting something else soon.

Probally ZAINO or Meguires.

I have the same problem. Living in southern cali i have to wash it every other day due to the dust in the air. I just use water and it looks great.

I wouldn't trade my NBM & the dust that comes with it for anything.

I'll agree that you need to use something better on your paint to keep the nice finish lasting. I use Tropi-care & it really holds up well to lots of washing...

Tropicare or Z5pro/Z2pro/z8- both look very good on NBM. Z5pro will make some of the micromarring less noticable.

I don't have that hard of time keeping mine clean, BUT I also don't drive it everyday either. I know what you mean about the dust and the purple colors when the light hits it at certain angles....the more dust you have on the car the more frequently it looks like a purple hue instead of a nice shiny dark blue. I also just started using Menzerna's line and I really like the results.

lol, i know its hard to keep EVERY color clean no matter what, but, my point about NBM is that if you have a black car and it gets dirty it looks like a dirty black car. if you have a NBM car and it gets dirty, it looks like a dirty PURPLE car. its not that it shows dirt, i had a black camaro, i know how much of a bitch black is, lol. its the fact that it so hard to keep the color looking right.

then again, like has been said, i should start using better stuff. which i will. lol

If you really want your paint to look it's best, look into a porter cable orbital polisher paired with a polishing system of your choice (I'm a fan of the menzerna line), while it's not cheap it is the best way for the layman to achieve professional results. Do some searching around this section, it's been discussed a ton. Happy detailing!!

AGREED! i wash mine about every 3 days, and qick wax once every 2 weeks or so, also i use a random orbital buffer..

quick question, who ever painted my car, actually MISSED some spots on the front pass are of the lower bumper and the body kit, anyone know where i can get some paint?

heres a pic, and some eye candy!

A local body parts store can help you out...

Clay, 3M and a high speed buffer always does the trick... but thats the real pro' body shops job...I use typically a porter cable, with a 6.5" Meguiars Soft Buff Red Cutting pad with Powercut HP-300. After i will use a Soft-Buff Buffing Pad and apply Hp-61/69 combination.Top it off with a bonnet, NXT Tech Wax and then Turtle Wax Carnuba Paste Wax... I also can use color X on a Bonnet in place of 61/69 or after it...looks amazing...however lately i havent been so fortunate

Well, I had my '93 for ten years and it was Black. My NBM SS is way better. Nothing is harder than Black. NBM actually hides the dirt better than Black, imo. And I love the way it changes color.

one thing I have noticed: any car with metallic in it, like the silver, blue, maple red, SOM they all never look like they have scratches. But solid colors, red, white, BLACK, yellow all look like someone with jeans on rubbed there *** all over the car. I take amazing care of my car, every week I wash and wax it, and my paint looks good from 10ft away, but look really closely and it's swirl city. I had a silver 98 v6 camaro, wouldnt wash it for 3 weeks still looked clean. Plus, you could not see one scratch in the entire paint. Next car will def have metallic in it to hide the swirls and scratches.
