HOLY SHIT!!! Look Here!
Those cars came with the Phase I.. which you see there...
The Phase II with 435 hp-- The Phase IIB with 475 hp, and the Phase III with a 427 C5R motor making 600+.
One Earnhardt is at the GMMG shop now getting a Phase IIIR - a 454 ci C5R...Instantly that car will be worth 100k+
All modifications done by GMMG (which you can upgrade any phase to a higher phase, including 12 bolt rear, full cage, and more.) Mods done by GMMG still retain the factory GM warranty because they are sanctioned by General Motors.
In other words... the closest thing to a modern day COPO. That car if upgraded to Phase IIIR will be a star at the Barret Jackson auctions 15-20 years from now... with a price over $250K.... mark my words.
Now you know something about the overall picture....

And just because GM decided to warranty a product done by an aftermarket company does not make it remotely close to a COPO. A COPO was built by GM and sold as a new car at GM dealerships, not at exhaust company manufacturers. It doesn't make ANY diff that you can upgrade it to a Phase 3 or a Phase 43 because GM didn't make it, hence it is nothing like a COPO car. Now YOU know something.
A better comparison would be to a Baldwin-Motion Camaro or a Mecham then a COPO.

And the only thing Barret-Jackson is good for is driving up the price of a lot of cars to astronomical heights just because a bunch of overly-rich people want to out bid the next moron.
And since when did COPO cars get built to be a "star" at some auction 25+ years later? They were built to RACE and to WIN, that is it!!!!!! They were not built as collectors cars or anything else.
And you know what... upgrade a GMMG car to a phase II or III and they will win... that's the purpose... just like the COPO of yester year. They just happen to be so expensive regardless of whatever auction becasue of what they are, just like yester year cars.
Smart off whatever you want after this, I'm done with 'ya... refer back to line one of this post. ~Joshua
