SOM Owners need apply Hey guys i noticed that under the hood of a SOM WS.6 a few components looked to have had a brighter orange painted on and i was wondering if thats normal? BTW im looking to trade in my car for it so i want to make sure its normal so im not buying a jacked up car

I have seen a diffrent orange under the hood to but i think its not clear coated as the rest of the car.
Run a carfax and that should tell you if its ever been painted. Or mabe remove the runing board rubber moldings(door jams) to see if its another color.
Look on the inside of the door and the code for som is u71.

yeah, its all in the clear coat i think. my engine bay looks really weird, it looks more like a hugger orange, or something. if i ever have EVERYTHING out of the engine bay, like if i decide im going to put a v8 in it, i'll get it repainted, with the clear coat.

Mine is the same way...as said it's the right color just without the clear.
I have a buddy who mixed up some SOM for me and without the clear it matches under the hood and under the hatch perfectly.
