Like transambandit said, scuff up the area around where you will be filling for the filler to have something to "bite" in to.

Ok I hit it with the bondo glazing putty in the red tube. I couldnt find the stuff parbreak recommended. I used alot of it (probably more than necessary) and put it on kind of thick in some places. It looks like its starting to crack in some places. But does it really matter if I'm just going to sand it down anyway?

Also. As it started to get tacky it was pulling the primer up... Is that normal ?

I think if this doesnt work I'm just gunna paint the MF'er and live with it.

edit: Also, how long should I let it dry for? Overnight just to be safe?

the glayzing puddy (at first i hit the button next to the d.. totally changes the word..ooops)but yeah the glazing puDDy takes along time to dry as compared to body filler, but overnight should be more then enough time for it to fully cure....

okay if the primer is coming off you eithor did not have enough primer on or it wasnt fully dried before you applied the bondo, Dont apply a lot of the putty, its just used to fill in little nicks and scratchs, your not supposed to use a lot of it, its more for patch work or air holes you will get when you use bondo. Apply it in SMALL amounts only, use an edge, eithor plastic or metal and scrap off the excess, you might have to sand it all the way back down if you used too much.

I will be wetsanding the primer, I also decided that I should probably get another can of the gray high build primer because the white just didnt cover how I wanted it to and I dont want anything to show through after this much work.

Ok, looks like I screwed something else up. I got the color on and sprayed the clear, but I think I may have sprayed it too thick. It turned a dull white! It says on the can it can take up to 7 days to fully cure so should I just give it some time or do I need to sand it back down and reclear it ?

sounds like you have orange peel, wait for a few days for it to cure, then you have to take some 1500 grit sand paper and sand the hell outta it, im serious it will take a LONG time for it to start going away, gradually make your way to a 2000 grit to polish out any little scratches you got from the 1500 grit and it should be good to go.

If it turned a dull whitish color then it sounds as though you are experiencing "blushing", and no not in your cheeks but in your paint. Blushing can occur mainly from too much heat or humidity in the air. Was it humid the day you sprayed. Also, if you put the clear on too heavy that will create problems too. When spraying clear, or base coat for the matter, do NOT try to get full coverage on your first coat. If you do, you've sprayed too heavy. The first coat should look like it's misted on there. Subsequent light coats will start to fill in and flow out.

It was very humid out when I sprayed. But this morning I came to take a look at it and the cloudiness in the clearcoat completely cleared up!!

I am hitting it with a few more very light coats this morning and I will have some pictures of the final product tonight.

BTW I think I got some paint / primer on some of the gaskets (the tape fell off while painting and I didnt notice ) Could I just try to hit that with some brake cleaner on a rag when its all dried or am I probably going to need to get new gaskets ? or does it even matter?

if you have the intake off you might as well just replace the gasket. you can get it from autozone.

Isnt it just the one rubber gasket per runner where it mates to the head and the rubber gasket for the throttle body? Are there any other gaskets for the intake? Can you even buy the individual gaskets?

I replaced mine when I painted my intake, not because of paint on them but just for peace of mind. They came in a set of 8 from GM.
