The lower airbox is the same on the Z and the SS, but you are correct that the SS had a rubber seal added on the lower metal radiator support frame (not part of the airbox).

I hope the next Generation Camaro puts the Z/28 back on top, where it belongs. The SS cars were just more optioned out, but the 1st gen Z/28s were quicker and were the lightweight badasses that rev'd. A 302ci Z/28 had no problem keeping up with the SS 396 Camaro. The only Camaro quicker was the COPO 427 stuff.

I'm more than happy with my Z28 being a Z28.

I just wish the hood didn't weigh 800 lbs.

but, putting badges/emblems on makes you a poser since that is clearly a label. I'm sure you will then tell everyone it is an "SS" also. It really sucks that some people have no grasp of the history of the Camaro and fail to understand that the "Z/28" has a better history than the SS. If these cars were all SS's, there would be posers trying to slap Z/28 emblems on them to be cool too I suppose.

Keep it real, be proud of the Z/28 heritage!

Very well put Tony. And yes alot of people do not understand the history of the Z28 Camaro. It is your car so build whatever you want. Just a proud Z28 owner... Oh I could have bought a SS but why would I? Its just an apperance package not a performance package.

I totally agree. Take the '69 Z/28 for example. Pristeen examples of this car are now going for $70k to $100k. Comparable SS cars of the same year are in the 30's and 40's.

Why? Because the Z/28's will blow away the SS's. Z/28's of that year are also very hard to find (unmolested)....

The rare 302 will run circles around the 350. This has great significance in GM's history.

same thing for the 98-02 Camaros. The quickest factory LS1 Camaro was a Z/28, not the SS. It was the no-option Z28, which was a little lighter than the 1LE. The 16" wheels are also lighter than the SS 17" wheels. So, the Z28 was also a quicker car than the SS even in current time.

You guys are full of ****!!

My "SS" badges added at least 25HP. When I took them off to put on 1967 V Flag emblems, I could literally feel the power loss

That would be great, but my 69 SS had a 396. I still rather have a big block over a small any day
