I sanded down the face of the grille with 320 grit sandpaper. Sprayed two coats of sandable primer, three coats of gloss black and then finished it up with three coats of clear. That was about three months ago, and it still looks great.

^^alright finally another person took out thier ss hood grille...I took mine out, I think it looks way better.....also sprayed the inside of it black. Yeah I think a billet grille painted to match the berger panel would look better than gloss black

Yeah I painted the inside of my scoop black too, but the pic was taken before I did it. Yes the grille was from ebay, I think I paid $50 for it. The emblem was also from ebay, its a '69 Chevelle grille emblem.

I painted mine around when I first got it (my car was a daily driver at the time) after about a year it looked like a chipped up speckled mess. It was terrible, so personally Id recommend against painting a grille unlees you want to remove it sand it and repaint it once a year or more. I eventually sanded it all off and left it that way until a month ago when I bought a black powdercoated grille.
