Default LED bulb fix

What does it take to put LED bulbs in your tail lamps and turn signals. From the little I've gathered already, I think nothing else is needed for the front turn signals to work. However, I tried to put LEDs in the tail lamps, and they just stay lit. I've also had troubles with the 921 LED bulbs in the 3rd brake light. That actually turned on my ABS light!
I've heard you need an electronic flasher, a ballast resistor, a different resistor inline (seen on eBay), and even wiring in some resistors found at Radio Shack. Does anyone have the definitive answer on installing LEDs on a 4th gen. Camaro? Oh, and while you're at it, my 3rd gen. would look good with LEDs too.
If anyone can help me, I will be greatly in debt to you. Have one on me!

The thermal flasher needs to be replaced with an electronic flasher. The Trident EL-12 should be available at AutoZone and other auto parts stores.

stay away from the inline resistors, they just take that unwanted amperage and convert it to heat. they get REALLY hot fast.
