Default Does gas damage paint?

I just washed and waxed my car today, went to the gym, go out to start my car and nothing. The starter has been acting weird for a while now, sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. Yes I should replace it, but it was working fine again, so I had to get a friend and push start it. So my night is pretty crappy already, I go to the gas station, with my tank below E, tell the dude 10 dollars, leave my car running, about a dollar into pumping the gas spills all over the side of my car. What the hell is that crap? I don't even get how that could happen, maybe because the gas was so low and I had the car running made an air bubble or something? I have no clue. But to the question does gas do anything to the paint, I went home and hosed it all off and washed that section with some soap. But I'm mad because I just WAXED IT!!!!

Would be fine after washing it off with soap. If you want to see if it's all really gone, hold a lighter next to it

One question: Why were you putting gas in with the car running?

in my dakota when i fill it by and push the lever down and let it do it by itself every once in a while a little gas will leak out...i just use their window wash squeege and soak it good a few times...then when i get a chance later that day ill stop by the car wash if i dont have time to really wash it by hand...just to make sure...but when i squeege it i push above where the gas is so the water leaks out of the squeege and when it runs down the pannel it takes the gas with it...dont want to be rubbin the gas in the paint

The gas removed the wax. Just rinse the area really good with water and re-wax it.
